The Department of Meteorology says due to the low-level atmospheric disturbance in the vicinity of Sri Lanka, the prevailing showery condition will continue.
The Met Department predicts showers or thundershowers over most parts of the island today.
Heavy showers above 100 mm can be expected at some places in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-western, Northern and Northern-central provinces and in the Galle and Matara districts.
It added, fairly heavy showers about 75 mm can be expected at some places elsewhere too.
Meanwhile, the general public has been requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
The Met Department added that the sun will be directly overhead in Ulukkulama, Anuradhapura New Town, Kayinattama and Palugollewa at about 12:11pm.
