Landslide warnings issued to several areas have been further extended due to the prevailing adverse weather conditions.
The National Building Research Organisation warned residents living in such areas to remain vigilant over land and building-related landslides.
Deputy Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili meanwhile said the Department of Meteorology expects the prevailing rains to continue.
Kodippili said the Central, Southern, Western, Sabaragamuwa, and North-Western provinces will experience heavy showers above 75mm.
He said a Level 1 landslide warning has been issued to the Bulathsinhala, Ingiriya, Palindanuwara, and Walallawita in the Kalutara District, Ganga Ihala Korale and Pasbage Korale in the Kandy District, Nuwara-Eliya, Kotmale and Ambagamuwa in the Nuwara-Eliya District, and Bulathkohupitiya, Aranayaka, Yatiyanthota, Deraniyagala, Dehiowita, and Ruwanwella in the Kegalle District.
The DMC Deputy Director said Level 1 and Level 2 warnings have been issued to the Ratnapura District.
Level 1 warnings were issued in Opanayaka while Level 2 warnings were issued to Kahawatte, Elapatha, Ayagama, Ratnapura, Pelmadulla, Kalawana, Godakawela, Kuruwita, Nivithigala, Kiriella, Kolonna, Imbulpe, Balangoda, and Eheliyagoda.
Kodippili urged the public to remain vigilant of signs of possible landslides.
