Samagi Jana Balawegaya Parliamentarian M Velu Kumar has requested the government to provide the 15kg packet of wheat flour that is provided to residents of estates at a low price, free of charge.
Speaking to media in Kandy MP Velu Kumar said a concession of Rs.40 is being provided per kilogram of wheat flour at present.
The MP claimed the present government came into power stating images of politicians will not be displayed on government projects.
He added however several Ministries including the Ministry of Finance are displayed on the packet of wheat flour.
The Parliamentarian said residents of estates are severely burdened due to the actions of the government.
He claimed estate workers lost the daily wage of Rs.1,000 and work as a result of the government’s actions.
MP Velu Kumar also condemned the government faction for organizing rallies at a time the country is facing several crises.
He noted the country is facing a dollar shortage while power cuts are being imposed and there is a fuel shortage.
The MP added however the President, Prime Minister and the Minister of Finance are organizing rallies and claiming the opposition is the cause of the issues, instead of providing solutions.
He claimed the government has launched its election campaign and launched a development programme to benefit their associates.
