Minister of Power and Energy Kanchana Wijesekera says authorities have explored the idea of increasing the prices of premium products such as 95-octane Petrol and Super Diesel.
The Energy Minister said the daily requirements of 95-octane Petrol and Super Diesel are less than 10% of the market share.
Minister Wijesekera said however increasing prices significantly of such products will not be a solution since it will create an artificial demand for lesser priced products.
The prices of 92-octane Petrol, 95-octane Petrol, Auto Diesel and Super Diesel were increased once again yesterday.
Accordingly, a litre of both Petrol and Diesel is now priced at Rs.400 or more.
