The Inter University Students Federation has opposed attempts to admit students who entered the state university system, to the Kotelawala Defence University.
Issuing a statement, the IUSF said a large number of qualified students lost university admissions due to errors in the methodology used to calculate the cut-off marks for the 2019 Advanced Level Examination.
The Federation said owing to a joint struggle by student unions and parents, the government increased the number of admissions for a number of streams based on the 2019 A/Level results.
A decision was reached to enrol 110 additional students to medical faculties.
However, the Inter University Students Federation claimed the government is attempting to admit the students to the Kotelawala Defence University instead of the state university system.
Therefore, the IUSF has called for funds to be disbursed to admit eligible students at state universities while admissions to the Kotelawala University should be halted with immediate effect.
