Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Vidura Wickramanayaka says the electoral system must be reformed.
Speaking to media in Colombo today, the Minister said there are plenty of people to raise their voices in Parliament, adding however that public acceptance towards them is very poor.
He noted that the public is calling for the 225 Members of Parliament to step down.
Minister Wickramanayaka said the same was witnessed after the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
Therefore, he called for a brand new programme instead and a new electoral system to change the prevalent system.
Minister Wickramanayaka said the lack of a new electoral system will not help identify leaders who are genuinely concerned over the wellbeing of the people.
