The National Election Commission has decided to hold talks with Secretaries of recognised political parties on the 6th of June at 10AM.
The meeting has been called for the Commission to certify the 2022 voter register, while also discussing the constitutions of political parties and also the present social and political landscape of the country.
The Election Commission added the 2022 voter register will be on display from the 15th of June to the 7th of July.
The Commission issuing a statement said it will accept all petitions between the 15th of June and the 12th of July and claimed the voter register will be certified on the 31st of October.
The Election Commission also stated that individuals who do not have their name in this year’s voter register will not be allowed to cast their ballot at elections.
Therefore, the public has been requested to contact the respective Grama Niladhari Officer and confirm the inclusion of their names in the 2022 voter register.
