The National Election Commission has requested Governors to take action against the behaviour and activities of some members of local government bodies which leads to the erosion of trust in representative democracy.
The Commission said it is also the duty of Secretaries of political parties to take action against local government members who are engaged in unethical and illegal activities.
The matter was raised when the Election Commission met for a meeting yesterday.
Meanwhile, a decision has been taken to hand a copy of the draft electoral register for the year 2021 to all political parties that represent Parliament.
Meanwhile, they have also decided to educate the steps taken to include the names of all those who have reached 18 years of age in the supplementary electoral register.
The Election Commission is meanwhile planning on conducting workshops for election officers regarding the voting process and increasing the capacity.
