Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith has called on the people to identify the conspiracies of the government and respond in a timely manner.
Speaking during a media briefing held in Colombo today, Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith alleged that instead of enforcing the law against the accused in the Easter Attack, an attempt was being made to arrest the victims.
The Cardinal said he condemns, the move to punish those seeking justice on behalf of Easter Attack victims, while those responsible are out at large.
The Cardinal noted the government and the Attorney General have failed to implement the recommendations of the Presidential Committee of Inquiry on Easter Attacks. He said the Attorney General should is not bound to fulfil the political aspirations of certain factions.
Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said the present government despite pledging to implement the recommendations of the Easter Sunday Attacks Commission report before and after the election, no meaningful steps have been taken thus far.
He said if the government fails to implement them they will not hesitate to seek international support to mete out justice to the victims.
