Minister Dullas Alahapperuma has refuted reports that the Cabinet of Ministers are due to convene tomorrow to discuss the prices of essential food items.
Speaking during the Cabinet media briefing today, Minister Alahapperuma said the Cabinet Spokesman at the end of yesterday’s meeting informed the President’s intentions to convene to discuss the country’s present situation as they did not convene for two weeks.
Minister Alahapperuma agreed that several concerns exist in relation to the prices of goods including imports of certain goods.
He noted the government is working towards rectifying all concerns through stringent management.
The Minister said the Cost of Living Committee also convened as a result to reach several important decisions.
