Minister of Transport Bandula Gunawardana assures to take steps to extend the expiry date of temporary driving licences issued in recent times.
Speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing in Colombo today, Minister Gunawardana said there are certain legal issues in extending the expiration dates.
When inquired by media over the issues regarding the issuance of new driving licences, the Transport Minister acknowledged that they are facing certain issues and temporary licences have been issued to certain individuals.
Minister Gunawardana said he instructed the Secretary to the Ministry to formulate a Cabinet paper to clear legal obstacles.
He also pledged to resolve the issue at the earliest.
