The Attorney General today informed the Court of Appeal that the Director General of Establishments of the Ministry of Public Administration, Home Affairs, Provincial Councils and Local Government has decided to pay all salary and interim allowances due to Dr. Mohamad Shafi Shiyabdeen while he was on compulsory leave over charges of performing illegal sterilisation surgeries on women.
Additional Solicitor General Sumathi Dharmawardena PC appeared in Court on behalf of the Attorney General.
The detailed were presented during the consideration of the writ petition filed by Dr. Shiyabdeen before the Court of Appeal seeking a writ order invalidating the investigation being conducted against him by the Director of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital Chandana Kendangamuwa.
The petition was taken up before Justices Sobhitha Rajakaruna and Dhammika Ganepola today.
The Minister of Health, the Director General of Health Services, and the current and former directors of the Kurunegala Teaching Hospital have been named as respondents in the petition
