State Minister of Preschools & Primary Education, School Infrastructure & Education Services Piyal Nishantha has requested principals and teachers to refrain from engaging in activities that could disrupt the education of children that resumed amidst challenges.
The State Minister speaking at an event in Kandy today thanked teachers and expressed his gratitude for resuming teaching.
He said certain conditions put forth by teachers and principals will be solved with time.
The State Minister said teachers teach during the day, protest in the evening and return to work the next day adding that they bring with them the risk of the coronavirus spreading.
He claimed that under such circumstances if the virus spread among children schools will have to close again.
State Minister Nishantha said if there is displeasure in the current government the public can overthrow the government at the next election and requested that they don’t harm innocent lives and the future of children.
He said teachers and principals can continue their struggles adding that all issues can be solved through the means of discussion.
