The Association of Medical Specialists has called on the government to re-impose the mask mandate in public places.
Issuing a statement, the Association has requested authorities to reverse the decision taken earlier in the week. It said although when travelling alone a mask may not be required, it will be essential in crowded places.
The Association of Medical Specialists noted although the number of daily coronavirus infections has reduced considerably in recent days, the COVID-19 risk still persists since several new variants have emerged from various parts of the world.
The Association said it encourages the public to continue wearing masks when in public especially due to the on-going protests, the lack of drugs and other issues.
It said if infections increase once again in the country, there will be grave consequences.
