The Joint Postal Trade Union Alliance says the distribution of mail that piled up at post offices across the island due to the 32-hour token strike, has commenced.
The postal workers strike that commenced at 4pm on Monday based on 24 demands, ended at midnight yesterday.
Convener of the Alliance Chinthaka Bandara warned that their demands have not been met with a favourable response thus far adding they are preparing to launch an indefinite strike action in the future.
Bandara said all employees resumed operations from midnight adding all mail delayed due to the union action will be distributed.
Bandara said they expect the government and the postal management to intervene and provide solutions to their demands.
He however said authorities failed to grant an opportunity to discuss their grievances.
