The government has temporarily suspended the distribution of domestic LP gas cylinders across the island, with immediate effect.
Speaking to NewsRadio a senior official of the State Ministry of Consumer Protection said the distribution of gas was suspended, pending a decision on investigations into reports of gas related explosions in various parts of the country.
The official further said gas companies were informed to suspend the distribution of gas stocks, and the retail sale.
When inquired by NewsRadio it was revealed that operations of Litro Gas Lanka Limited were temporarily suspended from last night.
However, Chairman of Laugfs Gas WKH Wegapitiya speaking to NewsRadio said his company had not yet received an official notice to suspend the sale of gas.
