A severe disaster situation has been reported from the Badulla District due to inclement weather experienced in Sri Lanka due to the low-pressure disturbance in the atmosphere.
Assistant Director of the Disaster Management Centre Pradeep Kodippili said an individual is reportedly missing after being swept away with the tide in the Badulu Oya.
Many landslides and inundation have also been reported. Floods have reportedly affected 25 homes in the area.
He requested residents of low-lying areas to remain vigilant as spill gates of the Laxapana and Upper Kotmale reservoirs have been opened.
He stressed that warnings issued to fishermen and Navy personnel remain in place.
