Curfew is currently in force across the island.
The Government Information Department said island-wide curfew will be effective till 6am tomorrow, the 4th of April.
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa issued the directives according to powers vested in him through provisions of the Public Security Ordinance.
Meanwhile, Sri Lanka Railways has informed that passenger trains will not be in operation during the period of curfew.
The Railway Department said fuel and goods transportation trains however will continue to function.
All trains except the night mail trains scheduled to run till midnight yesterday operated as usual to relevant destinations.
Meanwhile, private buses will not be in operation during the duration of curfew.
Furthermore, individuals leaving for the airport during the curfew period can use their air tickets as a curfew pass.
The Civil Aviation Authority informed that individuals returning home from the airport can use boarding passes as a pass.
Police meanwhile stated that Individuals engaged in essential services and persons at diplomatic offices can report to work by using their official IDs or any electronically certified document.
The Dhamma school examination meanwhile which was scheduled to be held today, has been postponed owing to the imposition of curfew.
The Commissioner General of the Department of Buddhist Affairs Sunanda Deshapriya said a statement will be issued pertaining to the rescheduled exam date.
Furthermore, the practical examinations of the 2021 Advanced Level Examinations have been postponed.
Accordingly, the practicals for western dancing and bharatanatyam, western, and oriental, and Karnataka music that were scheduled for today have been postponed.
The students are requested to visit the examination board tomorrow in order to obtain an alternate day to face the practicals.
