Minister of Education Dinesh Gunawardena says the government has agreed to resolve the long-standing issue related to salary anomalies of teachers and principals under several phases within the next four years.
Speaking during the weekly Cabinet media briefing in Colombo today Minister Gunawardena said, the matter remains unresolved under multiple governments.
He said based on the recommendations of the Ministerial subcommittee, the government has agreed to fully eliminate salary anomalies in teacher and principal services.
The Education Minister also confirmed during the next few months, several proposals will be implemented to meet the demands of teachers and principals.
He said a gazette notification will be issued declaring the teacher and principal services as closed services while a Rs. 5,000 allowance will be granted for teachers considering the added expenses in the month of September and October.
