Parliamentarian Diana Gamage today requested the government to legalise cannabis cultivation.
Speaking during the Budget debate, MP Gamage said legalising the cultivation of cannabis would bring about solutions to the foreign exchange crisis and will also boost the economy.
MP Gamage said many foreign countries generate large incomes owing to the import of cannabis, adding that a billion-dollar income can be generated locally.
She added children won’t have to carry the burden of debtors in future as the country’s debt can be paid claiming the government will not have to beg for loans from foreign countries or the International Monetary Fund.
MP Diana Gamage said the country can be debt free adding it could be made a useful resource through state sponsored exports
