Minister of Investment Promotion Dhammika Perera says a programme will be introduced to approve investment projects within a day.
Speaking to media after taking oath as the Minister of Investment Promotion, Perera said approval for investment projects requires two to three months at present, and vowed to fast-track the process.
Minister Perera said he believes that investments can be attracted adding that it is not a major challenge to him as he brought in investments during the conflict as well.
The Minister said he just joined the government and called for two weeks to enforce plans and to table a roadmap for the future.
The Minister also stated that he will work towards issuing passports within a day especially in Matara, Kandy, and Nuwara-Eliya and promised to reduce the congestion within a week.
He requested journalists to interview him once again and raise areas of concern if he fails to address any shortcomings.
Minister Perera also stated that direction must be given for any matter from those at the helm and called on all parties to work together during this crucial time.
Minister Perera also claimed that he submits written plans and not verbal plans stating that he left behind his businesses as it was crucial to come forward at such a trying time to support the country.
He also stated that one can’t seek solutions by being at loggerheads with the opposition, and said he believes the Opposition Leader’s support can be obtained following discussions.
