Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna National List Parliamentarian Dhammika Perera says he has handed over his assets and liabilities report to the Speaker of House before taking oaths as a MP today.
Businessman Perera took oaths as a Member of Parliament before the Speaker this morning.
Perera entered Parliament to fill the seat that fell vacant following the resignation of former Minister Basil Rajapaksa earlier this month.
Speaking to media after becoming a MP, Dhammika Perera said his tax clearance certificate was also handed over to the Speaker.
He said he is hoping the move will set a precedence in the country and will change the political culture.
MP Dhammika Perera said he entered Parliament after understanding the issues faced by the country.
He said he is confident of resolving the issues faced by the people.
Parliamentarian Dhammika Perera noted that he is hopeful that he will receive a portfolio that can be used to serve the people of the country.
He said he was the Chairman of the Board of Investments during the height of the war and therefore he is used to taking up and winning challenges.
MP Dhammika Perera added that he has created many jobs for Sri Lankans and is hoping to create many more in future.
