Mayor of Colombo Rosy Senanayake says dengue prevention programmes will continue regardless of the fuel crisis.

Speaking at an event in Colombo today, the Mayor said dengue prevention efforts were affected owing to the lack of fuel for fumigation machines.

However, she ensured that dengue prevention activities will continue, as the number of cases has risen significantly in comparison to the same period last year.

The Mayor urged the public to take preventative measures against COVID-19.

She said the public must ensure their safety with the coronavirus increasingly spreading in the country.

Senanayake urged that COVID-19 protocol, such as wearing face masks in public, maintaining a one meter distance, washing hands thoroughly and using a hand sanitizer to be continued.
