A final decision pertaining to the function of schools next week amidst the fuel shortage will be reached today (25).
The Ministry of Education said an announcement will be made following an assessment by education officials who are due to convene this afternoon.
All government schools in the Colombo Education Zone and suburbs, and all cities across the island were closed during the past week, from Monday the 20th of June due to the fuel crisis and concerns related to the transportation sector.
Provincial Education Directors were allowed to reach decisions pertaining to schools that were not within cities.
Furthermore, schools with a smaller number of students were allowed to function if students, and teachers were able to attend without having to face any transport difficulties.
