A decision will be taken today regarding the re-opening of the Pahala Kadugannawa section of the Kandy-Colombo main road for traffic movement.
The section of the road was closed on the 10th of November due to the risk of landslides.
Kegalle District Secretary Mahinda S Weerasuriya said a special discussion will be held today with the participation of officials of the National Building Research Organization, the Road Development Authority and the Kegalle District Secretariat.
The road has been closed for the past four days due to inclement weather.
The Kegalle District Secretary said a proposal has been forwarded to reopen one lane for traffic movement if fair weather prevails in the area today.
Accordingly, if the road is re-opened today, vehicles will not be permitted to make a stop in the area while motorists will be required to maintain a considerable distance between two vehicles while using the road.
