A data operator of a private company, who was arrested over the disappearance of files from the National Medicines Regulatory Authority database, has been remanded until the 6th of October.
The order was issued by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The 34-year-old individual was attached to the company that set up the database for the NMRA.
He was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department last evening in Divulapitiya.
Police said the individual was arrested under provisions of the Computer Crimes Act and Public Properties Act.
The Chief Executive Officer of the company was previously arrested and granted bail.
An overseas travel ban was imposed on the CEO while his passport was impounded by Court.
He was ordered to be present before the CID on the last Sunday every month.
The CID is continuing investigations into the missing data of the NMRA database.
