The Ceylon Teachers’ Service Union has commended Minister Gamini Lokuge for making a statement on holding a delegates’ conference with the participation of teachers’ union representatives from across the country, to resolve salary anomalies of teachers and principals.
The Union said despite not being invited for the talks, they will be pleased if their demands are resolved.
Taking to social media this morning, Chief Secretary Mahinda Jayasinghe lauded the support of the university community for joining the protest that was organised yesterday to force rulers to heed the demands of teachers.
Meanwhile Jayasinghe said the government must consider the recommendations cited in the ‘Subodhini Report’ and stringently implement them.
Jayasinghe reiterated that unions will not suspend the union action until all concerns are resolved.
