A male and female suspect have been arrested by the Mount Lavinia Crimes Investigation Division for the possession of 855g of heroin worth Rs.16 million.
The duo was arrested on a tip-off.
An electronic scale and Rs.41,000 believed to have been obtained through drug racketeering was also seized.
The 35 and 37 year old suspects are residents of Attidiya.
It has been revealed that the drug racket was conducted together with a female acquaintance of an inmate at the Boossa Prison, who is residing overseas via WhatsApp.
The suspects will be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court today while Police are conducting further investigations.
