Minister of Mass Media Dullas Alahapperuma has emphasized the importance of introducing a new examination system in the country.
Speaking during an event at the Sri Lanka Foundation Institute in Colombo today, Minister Alahapperuma said the examination system should help identify the skills of children instead of discouraging them from pursuing a field.
The Minister said the education and the examination systems of the country should meet the demands of the 21st century.
Minister Dullas Alahapperuma said therefore it is important for all factions in Parliament to contribute to reforms in the education sector.
The Minister noted that at a time the actions of MPs are criticising, it is the duty of the members to take measures to help the future generation flourish.
The Minister also noted laws should be amended to address the increase in cases of physical and mental harassment of children in the country.
