Litro Gas Lanka says they were unable to issue gas cylinders to the public between the 28th of October and the 1st of November.
Speaking to media today Chairman of Litro Gas Lanka Ltd, Theshara Jayasinghe said they were forced to shut down certain plants due to unavailability of stocks.
He said the company was unable to secure stocks from an incoming vessel due to threats levelled by suppliers.
Jayasinghe revealed that the suppliers threatened not to supply gas if the contract was not extended by another two years.
He said he is awaiting the advice of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
Jayasinghe also said the current shortage of gas experienced in the country was created artificially.
However he assured the situation would be brought under control within the next seven days.
