The Committee on Public Enterprise has decided to postpone the session with chairpersons of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation, the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited, and the Public Utilities Commission that was scheduled for tomorrow (12).
COPE decided not to hold the Committee meeting due to the current political situation in the country.
Due to a personal statement made by the Chairman of the PUCSL Janaka Ratnayake during the last COPE meeting, controversy arose pertaining to the price of petroleum.
An investigation into the statement was due to be conducted based on the statement of the PUCSL Chairman and the Auditor General’s report on the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation and the Ceylon Petroleum Storage Terminal Limited.
However, COPE Chairman MP Charitha Herath said the committee meetings will resume once the prevailing situation settles.
