A decision has been taken to increase container transport charges by 10 percent following yesterday’s fuel price revision.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo today, Chairman of the All Island Container Transport Owners Federation Sanath Manjula said the charges will increase from midnight today.
He said during the past few months, the prices of auto diesel increased on several occasions and their industry has been impacted severely.
Sanath Manjula said therefore after notifying those in the import and export sectors, they will increase container transportation charges by 10 percent.
He said without recovering the funds spent on diesel, they cannot continue operations.
