The All Island Container Transport Owners Association has decided to increase freight container transportation rates by 65 percent.
Chairman Sanath Manjula attributed the decision to the increase in fuel prices and the price of spare parts.
Manjula cited the appreciation of the dollar to the decision.
He said the revision will be effective from midnight today.
