The Samagi Jana Balawegaya says the government must give compensation to those who were injured from the recent gas leak explosions.
Speaking to media today, Parliamentarian Harsha de Silva claimed the government lied over not changing the composition of a gas cylinder, despite continuous accusations levelled by the Opposition.
He noted that the composition of a gas cylinder was changed as confirmed in the report by the Presidential Commission appointed to probe the matter, so that it would increase the pressure inside the cylinder for it to finish faster.
MP de Silva accused the government of chasing profits over people.
The Parliamentarian said the Cabinet of Ministers have ignored the public that have been burdened by the gas leak explosions.
Speaking on the situation surrounding the price of rice, MP de Silva said the government must intervene to provide rice to the people at a competitive rate.
He said people cannot afford to purchase rice in the market.
Therefore he called on the President to stop money printing, if the country’s inflation was to be controlled.
