The Colombo-Badulla night mail train has been added to the railway service after 318 days.
Sri Lanka Railways said the train will resume operations with the sleeper compartments and the mail compartment.
Due to discontinuation of the train, postal services and the transport of parcels including flowers were disrupted.
However, with the train resuming operation the services will also resume from today.
Meanwhile, although the administration made plans to remove the first class compartment with beds and replace it with seats, the Badulla-Colombo night mail train will resume operations with beds in sleeper compartments.
However, no arrangements were made to operate night mail trains from Colombo to Jaffna, Talaimannar, Batticaloa and Trincomalee.
