A circular has been issued declaring Friday a holiday for state sector employees.
The circular states that it has become a difficult task for public officers as well as private sector to use public transport services and meet their requirements with the support of private transport modes as a result of issues in the fuel supply for the transport sector.
The circular noted that the crisis may also put into question food security.
Accordingly, having considered all these facts, the Cabinet of Ministers during the meeting held this Monday (13) decided to close government offices every Friday for a period of three months.
The circular accordingly encourages public sector workers to plant food crops in gardens while at home.
However, the provisions of the circular will not apply to institutions that provide essential services such as water, electricity, health, defence, education, transport, port, and airports.
