The Criminal Investigation Department has summoned the Head of the Security Division of former Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa, over Monday’s violence.

The Officer-In-Charge of the Kollupitiya Police Station and the organiser of the event held at Temple Trees on Monday have also been summoned to the CID to record statements.

The CID is currently conducting investigations over attacks on peaceful protesters opposite Temple Trees and Galle Face Green.

Police said the Criminal Investigation Department will record statements from relevant officers according to the directive issued by the Attorney General to investigate the incidents, while further statements will be recorded from another group in the future.

Investigations into the incident are being carried out by two Superintendents of Police under the supervision of the Director of the CID.

Six teams have been assigned to the investigations.

Police said they have also provided a report on the matter to the Fort Magistrate’s Court.
