The Police Headquarters has expressed its regret to the journalists who were inconvenienced by being issued notice to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department.
Issuing a statement, the Police Headquarters acknowledged the support rendered by the media when requested by the CID during investigations.
Therefore, the Police Headquarters said newspaper editors will not be summoned to the CID.
An investigation is currently underway into the incident of journalists being summoned to the CID on the directives of the Inspector General of Police.
The Police Headquarters said the Police has always respected the rights of the public, including the media, in freedom of expression.
