The Criminal Investigation Department has launched an investigation into a Sri Lankan man who carried out a terrorist attack in a supermarket in Auckland, New Zealand.
Police said they are obtaining information from those close to the person concerned. It was revealed the individual left Sri Lanka in 2011 on a student visa.
However, his identity has not yet been officially announced by the New Zealand authorities. It has been confirmed that the suspect was previously arrested in connection with a stabbing and was later released.
