The says there is serious suspicion that the law is not being enforced against former President Maithripala Sirisena over investigations into the Easter Sunday terrorist attack, in order to protect the government’s two thirds majority.
Speaking to media after lodging a complaint before the Criminal Investigations Department, Media Director of the Archdiocese of Colombo Rev. Fr. Jude Krishantha said the complaint called for the CID to conduct an inquiry into a statement made by Minister Prasanna Ranatunga yesterday.
Minister Ranatunga yesterday claimed that former President Sirisena is fully responsible for the 2019 Easter Sunday attacks.
He cited the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into the Easter Sunday Attacks, and said the five-member commission suspected that the Former State Intelligence Service Chief Nilantha Jayawardena, and the former President were making false statements before the Commission, claiming that they have not had prior intelligence of the attacks.
