The JVP says blaming China while local authorities have failed to reach a firm decision regarding the Chinese fertiliser ship is futile.
Speaking to media in Kandy, JVP Politburo Member KD Lalkantha said the manner in which China intervened in the country’s internal matters regarding the ship was unacceptable.
He added although relevant authorities and experts in the country rejected the stock, the company called for the stock to be tested by a third party, and did not accept the decision by local authorities.
He said if Sri Lanka obliged, future substandard stocks cannot be rejected.
Lalkantha noted however professionals in the country strongly rejected the stock of low-quality fertiliser sent from China, and launched a struggle for this cause.
He questioned if the issue was against China or the country’s authorities.
