A flight carrying USD 28 million worth of essential medicines and medical equipment donated by the Chinese government arrived at the Bandaranaike International Airport last night.
The consignment includes 14 essential medicines that were urgently needed within the health sector of Sri Lanka.
A group of government officials including Minister of Health Keheliya Rambukwella, Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka Qi Zhenhong and Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena were present at the Airport to accept the donation.
The Chinese Ambassador to Sri Lanka said the stock of medicines and equipment were donated by the Chinese Government as well as various community groups including Buddhist organizations in China.
