The Ceylon Teachers’ Union says there was no increase in teachers’ and principals’ salaries with only salary anomalies eliminated.
Chief Secretary of the Union Joseph Stalin expressed his views in response to charges levelled by the Government Medical Officers Association that the main reason behind the health union strike was the government resolving teacher-principal salary anomalies outside the national salaries policy.
When inquired by NewsRadio, Stalin denied all allegations claiming they will intervene against all such charges.
Stalin said many groups are attempting to define the elimination of salary anomalies as salary increments adding that more needs to be done to fully resolve their concerns.
He said the GMOA has been levelling baseless claims over the teachers and principals’ salary increments since its inception.
He added they are not affected by such statements.
Stalin said the GMOA obtaining salary increments were irrelevant adding teachers’ union will move forward in resolving salary anomalies.
