National People’s Power Parliamentarian Dr. Harini Amarasuriya says the statement by Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Ajith Nivard Cabraal that the country’s foreign reserves have risen to USD 3.1 billion, is false.
The MP said the Governor’s statement was a mere fantasy.
MP Amarasuriya speaking at a gathering of the NPP in Kundasale, Kandy yesterday said the country’s reality has been well understood when considering the number of messages received hourly via telephone.
She said issues in the country are worsening daily with the future very apparent.
MP Amarasuriya said reserves have depleted drastically, adding that the USD 3.1 billion that the Governor claimed was in reserves was a mere 10-million-yuan loan from China that the government hopes to convert to dollars.
She claimed that the possibility of the conversion is unclear.
The Parliamentarian said the entry of reserves has reduced 50% monthly raising alarming concerns.
MP Harini Amarasuriya also assured the people that a government led by the National People’s Power, will put an end to corruption.
She added an NPP government will also focus on thefts that have taken place by the government through political affiliations, which will be investigated and with attempts launched to retrieved funds.
The MP stated that the Pandora Papers is one such revelation, adding that investigations can lead to such discoveries.
