The proposal to increase electricity tariffs will be presented to the Cabinet of Ministers today.
Chairman of the Ceylon Electricity Board MMC Ferdinando said the proposal to increase electricity tariffs has been compiled in a bid to minimise the excessive losses incurred by the CEB at present.
The annual income of the CEB is at Rs. 276 Billion at present.
The CEB Chairman said however the annual expenditure of the CEB has increased to Rs. 750 Billion and therefore they are compelled to increase electricity tariffs.
