Engineers of the Ceylon Electricity Board today responded to allegations levelled by State Minister Dayasiri Jayasekara that 40MW of renewable energy have been lost due to bureaucracies.
Speaking to NewsRadio, the Ceylon Electricity Board’s Electricity Engineers Association attributed the delay to justifiable technical issues.
President of the Association Anil Ranjith said the technical issues include high voltages that can affect a relevant home and surrounding homes resulting in electrical items overheating, varying transformer sizes leading to limits on power supply, and connectivity issues when moving further into the country.
Ranjith said the CEB bears responsibility for all such issues adding there are many practical concerns.
He stated the CEB also prefers providing solar energy to save the country’s dollar reserves and fuel resources.
Ranjith stated many issues however lack solutions to date.
