The Ceylon Electricity Board Engineers Association says an indefinite work to rule campaign was launched from noon today.
Speaking during a media briefing in Colombo the Association said trade union action was launched based on six demands.
Their demands include not implementing the LNG deal reached with the American firm New Fortress in an informal and illegal manner, continuing the LNG tender process, suspending the programme to separate the CEB into sections, suspending amendments to the Ceylon Electricity Board Act No.17 of 1969, preventing the politicisation of the General Manager post, and suspending the transfer of senior managers.
According to the work to rule campaign launched at noon today, they will only be on duty from 8.30am till 4.15pm.
The Association said they will work outside work hours only in the case of emergencies and breakdowns.
