State Minister of Primary Health Care, Epidemics and COVID Disease Control Sudarshini Fernandopulle says necessary steps will be taken if the need arises for a lockdown.
Speaking to media in Gampaha the State Minister said the number of coronavirus cases being reported has increased by 30% while deaths have risen by 48.8% this week.
State Minister Fernandopulle called on the public to ensure they avoid large gatherings and congested areas.
The State Minister added she is unable to reach decisions pertaining to imposing a lockdown adding her opinion on the matter is irrelevant.
