The Archbishop accused the government of conspiring to undermine the investigation although they have waited patiently for two and a half years to uncover the truth.
Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said they only want the government to reveal the truth and mete out justice to those who suffered due to the bombings.
Archbishop of Colombo Cardinal Malcolm Ranjith said if the government is attempting to conceal the truth from the international community they will be left with no choice but to seek justice from the same international community.
Director of the National Catholic Center for Social Communications Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando joining the media briefing said the government must take responsibility if they have to go to the international community, if the present administration is attempting to deceive the international community.
He claimed it is clear from the outset the present government was attempting to deceive the public regarding the attacks without taking steps to identify the perpetrators and punishing them.
Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said they are seeking answers from the government adding however it has been taking steps to divert the attention through various means.
He said from the time the report of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry was handed over, the present administration has been using various tactics to undermine the truth.
Rev. Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said beyond informing that some individuals are in custody and legal action has been filed against another group, the government delegation has nothing more to inform the Vatican through the trip which has been undertaken through taxpayers funds.
He questioned why the recommendations of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry report have not been implemented thus far.
Fr. Cyril Gamini Fernando said it is evident that the present government is attempting to protect certain parties involved in the attacks and prevent the truth from being revealed to the public.
