60 megawatts of electricity has been added to the national power grid through the Maskeliya Canyon Hydro Power Plant.
A senior official of the Canyon Power Plant said power generation at the plant resumed yesterday after operations were halted for three months due to maintenance work on the underground tunnel that carries water from the Maussakelle Reservoir to the Canyon Power Plant.
The water supply to the Canyon Hydro Power Plant was suspended due to maintenance work on the tunnel and the sluice gate of the Maussakelle Reservoir was opened for three months.
The sluice gate was closed since yesterday and it is reported that 60 megawatts of power from the power plant will be added to the national grid by obtaining water from the recently renovated tunnel.
